'PSYCHIC KIDS' SEE DEAD PEOPLE

By LINDA STASI

QUICK!

What do the following phrases have in common?: "I see dead people," "They're back" and "Mother what's wrong with me?"

If you guessed they were said by characters on "Six Feet Under," you're wrong, and if you guessed they were all uttered by terrifying children in movies so scary that watching them could cause you to stay awake for decades, you're right.

Good thing scary kids who tap into the other side only exist in movies, right? Wrong.

They also exist on TV - reality TV, that is. A&E launches a new show tonight, "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal," about kids who live with the dead, whether they like it or not. And mostly they don't like it.

If you happened to watch the BIO special of the same name a few months back, you will recall that it starred Chip Coffee, a medium, and Dr. Lisa Miller, a professor at Columbia University.

On that special they investigated, studied and worked with three youngsters who were having, or claiming to have had, ongoing and sometimes constant paranormal experiences.

A&E liked the show so much, they've turned it into a series, and in their hands, it works just as well.

Yeah. The kids show is way more interesting. Paranormal State is ok but getting kinda boring. I watched Ghost Lab and it's not my speed.

Woo it's nothing if not amusing.

I have attended lectures by people who subject certain things to scientific scrutiny, and I can tell you this given a scientific medium none of them amount to a hill of beans. No offence but it really is just wishful thinking, hoaxes, the art of persuasion and magic.

By the way if you think I'm talking about the mainstream in science I am not I'm talking about amateur groups such as SfPR and so on.

If you're intereseted in the subject their lectures are great, you can see them at The unconvention every year in London.

No offense taken.

We're more open to woo here, but interested in falling for fakes or having our brains fall out. Just a little open minded.

:cheeky:

There's a difference between being skeptical and being an unbeliever.

I'm not an unbeliever I'm a skeptic. There is a difference. :)

One, I never found the kid from Sixth Sense scary, and two, I wonder why they quoted Poltergeist II instead of the first movie?
