Well, so far I have heard of Varttina and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (both are amazing!).

Well. Here are some of my favorites, as of late....

Elephant Gun by Beirut

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsfAmkKRcFU

The Homeless and the Hummingbords by Alaska In Winter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPIvgxkcWds

Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7RWb-8Izv0

Israel by Siouxsie and the Banshees

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiTYvcms-Og

So...we have some Neo-Folk, Indie (ish), and Goth Rock/post Punk music....yep.

Siouxsie and the Banshees is my favorite band among those, though.

Anyone listen to Leonard Cohen? I'm a Sisters of Mercy fan too, but does anyone listen to their muse? "Sisters of Mercy," as well as "Some Girls Wander by Mistake" ,is Leonard's material.

I've been writing a lot for the past year, as I've mentioned before. I often have some type of trance music running in the background to cover the noise of my family. Front 242's new album (new to me, I'm not sure if they've put anything out since) Pulse (2002 I think) carried me through a lot of last year. This year my neighbor turned me on to cevin Key's solo material. That's great stuff to write to too, low lyric content with fantastic soundscapes running through my mind as I write. I didn't really like "Music for Cats" (at least not the first couple songs, they really seem intended for cats), but "The Dragon Experience", and "The Ghost of Each Room" are great albums. These albums also have some great guest vocals, Genesis P-Orridge is on one or two songs for "Music for Cats", Nivek Oger and Edward Ka-Spel are both on "The Ghost of Each Room". Good stuff :)

Well, I have to admit that I lost track of Front 242 during the 90's ...

But ... I do like some trance. I listened to Tangerine Dream back in the day and the trance/electronica and some of the dance have the same flavors ...

I've been listening to XM Radio's channel 82 - 'The System', and it's not bad. I especially liked the remix of Infected Mushroom's 'Riders on the Storm' (The video's not much, but the music's good ...) Morrison's voice is a little sped up, but that's forgivable - it gives a nice techno/ classic rock fix in one dose!

Infected Mushroom - Riders on the storm (Infected Mix)
