there have been some mumblings about talking politics here.

Not something I'm personally interested in, but hey.

Currently, we tend to discuss politics in the Saloon, where things are allowed to get heated. If there is a desire to actually discuss politics, mebe the Coffee house is the place to do it, since the civility level there is pretty high.

I think we all have experiences with normal i-talk about politics, and none of us want to duplicate that here.

If a knock 'em out drag 'em out fight is wanted, I personally have no problem with the creation of socks to argue with, so there's no angst spilling over into something important, say, the music thread.

what say you all?

What was left in Pandoras box after they opened it? Abandon hope all ye who enter politics though. It gets pretty hairy in there. You'll need a moderator with a lot of experience and common sense. So I vote for anyone but I.

I think that starting it in one of the other two forums, as you suggest, makes more sense right now, unless political topics become so abundant that it would make more sense for them to have their own forum.

well, I was thinking a POLITICS tag voluntarily added by the OP would allow me to Stay The Fudge Out of it.

So, lady grey? dug? Any takers to mod any politics?

Nothing has started up despite the whispers...

Thanks for the offer, but I can't devote that much time or brainpower to forums at this time. I'm not sure I understand the gist of your question, though. Are you asking if politics can be successful in a civility-sensitive area? I'm sure it can, but you'll have to find a membership that wants that. And there's that critical mass threshold you need to meet, where there is enough content generated to make it interesting. You'll probably find it hard to achieve that without allowing some snark.

I hate politics. That means I could stomp on snark from any side.
